About Lateral Management & Media
Lateral Management & Media is a Bakersfield, California–based production company owned and operated by James Woodward.
James earned his bachelor’s degree from Olivet College and his master’s degree from Columbia College Chicago. During college, he interned with Universal Records, which opened the door to Columbia’s Arts & Entertainment Management graduate program. There, he focused on Arts, Entertainment, and Media Management.
After completing his studies, James—known to many as Woody—moved to New York City, where he spent 15 years working as a Talent Agent. His career included managing a diverse roster of artists, running an independent record label, and working in theater management.
James has since relocated to Bakersfield, where he lives with his wife, Daniela, and their four‑year‑old son, Axel. Today, he leads Lateral Management & Media, a production company specializing in outdoor filming projects, though the scope of work extends far beyond that.
